BREAKING: Vehicle Kills, Injures Pedestrians in Times Square, New York

BREAKING: The New York Police Department has confirmed that an “intentional” attack has reached Times Square, New York City.

A vehicle which reportedly drove against oncoming traffic, mounted a sidewalk and struck numerous pedestrians, has left at least one dead and about 20 injured.

The FBI is now assisting the NYPD with their investigation into the cause and motive, if any, of the incident.

Images appearing on social media appear to show the suspect vehicle mounted on a metal sidewalk security barrier, with the New York Police Department quickly clearing the area.

NYPD confirmed that the driver has been arrested and is being questioned. Footage aired by Sky News depicted the moment the driver was detained.

The 26 year old male, reportedly from the Bronx, has had two previous DWIs and is being tested for drugs and alcohol.

The “intentional” attack occurred shortly after 12pm local time, with media reports suggesting it to be the heaviest time for foot traffic in the city.

New York Police Department confirmed that the incident was “not being treated as terrorism”.

President Donald Trump has been informed of the incident, and continues to receive updates, per Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
